Music Video Finale

My teammates for this project are James, Treysen, and AJ. I chose these people as my partners because I know them all, and all of us have had experience in this project. We chose 24k Magic by Bruno Mars as our song to do in this project. I didn't really want to do this song at first because it was going to be hard to make a storyline for. We chose this song because of majority vote, and my teammates had an idea of what to do. We chose this song because it would be fun to do.

Our storyline is our group meeting up to go to a concert that they are performing in. It is more of a fun storyline than a very meaningful one. However, it does relate to the lyrics. The lyrics are about like dressing fancy and is about a party or a show. In the beginning we are meeting up and then we are playing our instruments and lip syncing at the concert. We incorporate the lip sync into the storyline, so it keeps going smoothly.

The music video project showcases all of the work we have done this year. It requires editing skills, photoshop skills, and team work. The edits have to be fast paced, and they have to go with the beat of the song. For the posters, we have to add effects to make the posters look really good. This project also requires a lot of teamwork, since we have to make a plan for the music video, and we have to meet up to film, which can be very hard. This project is a very fun to do, and editing is also really fun. This is probably my favorite project of the year.

24K Magic By Bruno Mars
Players, put yo' pinky rings up to the moon
Girls, what y'all trying to do?
24 karat magic in the air
Head to toe so player
Uh, look out!

Pop pop, it's show time (Show time)
Show time (Show time)
Guess who's back again?
Oh they don't know? (Go on tell 'em)
Oh they don't know? (Go on tell 'em)
I bet they know soon as we walk in (Showin' up)
Wearing Cuban links (ya)
Designer minks (ya)
Inglewood's finest shoes (Whoop, whoop)
Don't look too hard
Might hurt ya'self
Known to give the color red the blues

Ooh I'm a dangerous man with some money in my pocket
(Keep up)
So many pretty girls around me and they waking up the rocket
(Keep up)
Why you mad? Fix ya face
Ain't my fault y'all be jocking
(Keep up)

Players only, come on
Put your pinky rings up to the moon
Girls, what y'all trying to do?
24 karat magic in the air
Head to toe so player
Uh, look out!

I'm a dangerous man with some money in my pocket

So many pretty girls around me and they waking up the rocket

Movie Trailer Premier

Welcome to a new blog post. Our new project is a movie trailer, which is probably my favorite project. Our movie trailer has to be 90-120 seconds long, and it must be fictitious. My teammates are Justin, Ian, and Eve. We have to have a cliffhanger in our trailer, which is ending on something that gets you thinking. We have to have a voice actor and it must be interesting. In our plan, I wrote the voice acting script. Our movie is a mystery with island survival in it. Sounds like a weird combination, but it works with the story. The story has a detective who has to survive on an island, after the plane he was on crashed mysteriously. The detective was looking for a missing person when his plane crashed. When the detective was exploring, he finds something in the bushes. Is it the missing person, or something much bigger?

The biggest challenge we had in this project is filming all our scenes. We have one that is very hard to film, since it needs a green screen. There is a green screen in the class, but we either didn't have the clothes or we were busy on filming audio or our teacher was giving a demonstration. It is a scene in a plane, so that is why we need the green screen. Another part that was hard was cutting our shots to match with the audio and so they wouldn't be so long. The most successful part was filming all the other scenes, as we did all the scenes we could without the green screen in the course of just two days, and three meet-ups. The editing is also coming along very well for our project, and i'm sure that the poster for the movie trailer is going just as well. We have matched up almost all the audio so it looks like it plays as the person talks, and matches the movement, but it's not perfect.

For the critique on our movie trailer, we got okay results. They weren't the best, but I think they were fair. We didn't have the highest quality of shots, and our team didn't have much experience with movie trailer filming. Considering we didn't have that much experience, I think we still did pretty good. The critique has taught me to be more careful when editing, and also go for the highest quality that we can do. A 3/4 is alright, but we could get that 4/4 if we learned from our mistakes. If we do this project again, I will hopefully have learned from these mistakes and create a very high quality movie trailer.

Metamorphosis Animation

It's a new month, and a new project. This project is an animation project, so it should be fun. We have a few different goals. For this animation, we have to show change, hence the word metamorphosis. So the character has to change, but there has to be an explanation for the change. In this project, one of the most obvious goals is to get a 4/4 on this project. That is equivalent to an A. To get a 4/4 it has to be a good animation, and it has to have a good plot. To do this project we are using Stykz, which is a freeware. The animation type is basically stop motion, where each frame you move the character so that it gives the illusion of movement. Luckily, Stykz has an onion skin feature, which makes animating much easier. Onion skin shows where your character was before you moved the character. It is very helpful, and should speed up the process by a bit.

My team decided our focus statement is going to be Witch Explains Selflessness. Our story is called this because there is a King who is selfish, so a witch teaches him a lesson. For our scenes we start off with Prince Nevan (the name of the king) getting crowned. After the ceremony a witch walks up to the king and starts to give him a blessing but the King rejects her and banishes her from the kingdom because she is a witch. The witch gets angry at the king, and she turns him into a rat. The king is sent to the center of the kingdom and he has to run away from feet and he gets kicked into a sewer. He tries to find company but the moment he tries to make friends they instantly reject him and he is left all alone. So the king leaves and goes further into the sewer. As he goes further into the sewer he finds an old wise rat. This wise rat tells him that he is treating the witch like how he is treated right now. So the king who learned his lesson goes back to the witch and tells her he understands his mistake and is going to be a better ruler.

I think we deserved the grade that we got, based on the quality of the visuals and audio. I think we could have done better in his project if we met up more, so we would have had more time of working on it. We got a 3.6, which is pretty good. I am definitely happy with the grade. I wish I started on the soundtrack earlier, so it would have sounded better and we could have used more of it. I also wish that my teammates told me what type of music they wanted, because one of them did not like it, while the other one did. We had a lot of fun working on this project, and I am excited for the next project. That is what I think about our grade on this project. See you next time!

Geometric Portraits

To me, facial expressions are universal. This is because everyone uses facial expressions and facial expressions express emotions. Some people are able to hide their emotions. So, this can mean that they can be different around the world. Most facial expressions are universal, because they are a way to show our emotions in a type of unique language. For example, people cry when something sad happens, and when someone is angry, their face gets scrunched up. There are a lot of facial expressions that people use, considering the amount of emotions there are. Some people also use the same facial expressions for things, such as tears of joy.

To make a good low poly portrait, you need to follow a few different steps. You first need to get your photo, which is pretty obvious. Then, you need to simplify it. That is basically what low poly means. Divide your picture down the middle with the shape tool, since we are doing only the left side. This means your photo has to be straight on, with the eyes looking right at the camera. If you want to do the next low poly, you do not do any dividing, and it needs to be looking away for low poly 2. Then, you can make triangles with the red line, but not for low poly 2. Then, fill the triangles with the polygonal lasso tool, and go to filter, blur, average. Then just keep making triangles and keep filling them, using command or ctrl F, to make the process easier.

My final poly portrait
My first Poly portrait looks much simpler, and it was a new process. By the time I got to Poly 2, I was somewhat used to the process, so it wasn't as hard as it was at first. The first Poly portrait was very simple and looked like a bobble head.  I think I improved by a lot going from the first to the second Poly portrait. I did rush sometimes for the Poly 2, so I didn't do the best I could do, but I did a decent job. I payed more attention to parts I needed to add detail in, but I had a difficult time keeping some parts simple when they needed to be simple. Also, Poly 2 is more eye-catching because we added a background, trying to make that look like polygons too.

Verbal Landscapes

NelsonJ_Retime from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

I interact with nature when I am camping. At the campsite, I find wood for the fire, and I’m sleeping in the outdoors (well, in a tent). When I am playing soccer, I am running on the grass field, I am interacting with the grass. Also, when you are at the beach, you are interacting with the water.
Nature impacts my life by making me calm. Nature can be very beautiful at times. I love being in the hammock and reading a book with the sun setting, or when it's windy. Nature sparks imagination and interest. Sunsets, sunrises, and all these beautiful things of nature all do this. Nature is just an amazing thing to have in this world.

In GT, (our school's computer class) we are making Timelapses and Slow-mos. To make Timelapses Slow-mos, we are using Final Cut Pro X. In this software, there is a tool called retime.  When you click on that tool, it opens up a drop down menu, with different options. You can choose if you want to make the clip slow, and then by how much you want it to be slowed down, speed it up, and also choose the speed for that, or you can reverse the clip. Reversing isn't for Slow-mos and Timelapses, but it is still an important option.

For our project, I think that the hardest part is changing the audio. This is an action in editing. It is a simple action, as you just drag the bar down, but you have to get it at the right audio level. For my poem's audio, which sounds like I am 3 years younger or more, I have to make it loud enough so it is heard above everything else, but quiet enough so it doesn't deafen the viewers You also have to make the music loud enough so you can jut about hear it, but quiet enough so it doesn't go over the poem. My favorite part of this project is retiming the video clips. It is so cool seeing how it turns out when it is sped up, or slowed down. When the clip is slowed down, the action is more clear, and when it is sped up, the action is clear, and interesting as it seems time is speeding up. The clips are so much more interesting, and unique when sped up or slowed down.
I got a 2/4 on my project. I got this grade because although I had everything I needed, my project was low quality. I fully agree with the grade I got, as I could have done better, and I should have done better. My clips were shaky, because I had to hold my camera up because it kept falling over. Although my voice probably didn't have anything to do with my grade, it sounded very strange.  I hope to improve on future projects.

Poetic Personal Statement

Hello and welcome to my new blog. This is my first blog post. I post photo's, and what is happening where I am. So poetry... I think poetry is a short story written in verse and rhyme. Poems normally have a lot of emotion. I think that the authors of poems use poems to say something about their life or what they are doing in a short way. The authors may use poem writing to be at peace, and they may write about what they love in a unique way. Poetry doesn't always have to be written. Really, almost anything can be a poem if you see it in a poem author's eyes. A painting, a sport, or dance can all be poems.

Hard work, practice, and sweat is what makes you better at what you want to be.
The birds, the trees, the waves crashing, the ocean smell, oh I love the sea.
Soccer (football for the rest of the world), I love the fast pace, always an action sport.
You can always get better even when you fall short.
Variety of all the food, the amazing smells, the amazing taste.
People who are hard-working are always doing their best, and when they do not try, they feel
disgraced.

I used rhyme in my poem/ personal statement to make the poem flow. Rhyming makes the story/poem smooth. Rhyme also makes the poem more interesting. Reading rhyme is very fun. Rhyme is very nice sounding, and you can use it to tell something about yourself. I did this in my poem. I am a hard worker, I love the ocean, I love playing soccer, and those are just a few examples. Using rhyme is obviously needed in a poem. Rhyme is cool to use because it's fun to find all the different words that can rhyme.
